Group Policy processing failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller
- Log: System
- Source: Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy
- Domain & Group Policy
- Warning
What it means
Group Policy couldn’t reach a domain controller.
Why it matters
Settings and security baselines aren’t being applied.
What to do
- Check network and DNS, then run gpupdate /force.
- Common on Wi-Fi at startup; enable "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" if needed.
Find it with PowerShell
Get-WinEvent -MaxEvents 20 -FilterHashtable @{
LogName = 'System'; Id = 1129
} | Select-Object TimeCreated, ProviderName, MessageAdd -ComputerName SERVER to query another machine. Other event sources can reuse the same ID number, so check the ProviderName column.
